Frankfurt Airport – Air France KLM lounge review

Frankfurt as the most important airport in Germany – more than 30 mio passengers departed here in 2015 – consists of two terminals. Most of my time I spent in Terminal 1 – Lufthansa homebase und Star Alliance departure/arrival area – in the last years. The other airlines can be found in Terminal 2 where also Air France and KLM departs and their lounge is situated opposite of gate D26 in the Schengen area.

The lounge is bright with a huge window front and the interior is set in neutral light beige and grey colors.
In the mornings the place is a bit crowded until the KLM and the Air France early bird service departs. Nevertheless it is easy to find a seat in a quite corner.

Just at the entrance a choice of daily international newspaper in French, English and German language were offered as well as some magazines (mostly in French). A tv screen broadcasts a news channel. The free WIFI in the lounge is as fast as everywhere at the airport.

Due to my early morning flight I ate nothing before I left my place in the middle of the night and decided to try the breakfast options – hoping to survive my flight with Iberia sleeping with a full stomach. The offered selection consists of a choice of different cereals, bread, boiled eggs, cheese and sausage. For the sweet tooth french croissants, jam, Nutella and muffins were served.  The typical coffee specialities like Latte Macchiato, Cappuccino, Cafe latte or here Cafe au lait are available as well as tea as well as to the standard non-alcoholic selection. Different type of spirits can be drunken on the rocks or mixed. Those traveller who prefer wine can choose between two white and two red wines with Wasabi nuts, Cracker and potato chips.

Pros: Overall I spend a good time. The lounge offers a good breakfast choice with everything (not only) the Germans like. Especially the fresh croissants are very delicious.
Cons: I was missing outlets to charge phones and laptops badly. As well that there is no toilet in the lounge that you have to leave if you need one. It surprised me that I could not see any sparkling wine and that one white wine came from a winery in Germany.
