Berlin – Steigenberger Am Kanzleramt / A hotel review

Berlin – Capital of Germany and one of the most popular cities to visit for tourists. With its 3.5 million inhabitants the biggest city in Germany and due to the history spread out over a huge area of land. This makes it a little bit harder to find the perfectly located spot to stay. In my case I only had to spend one night and my arrival airport was Berlin-Tegel. The airport and Berlin Mitte – the center – are connected with an airport shuttle which brings you directly to the Central Station – situated close to the Bundestag -.

The Hotel Steigenberger Am Kanzleramt is situated next to the station – only 850m away from the Platz der Republik and 1.5km from the Brandenburger Gate -.

The 5 star square out of concrete was opened in 2014 and more than 300 spacious rooms – 29 to 34 sqm superior or deluxe rooms and 54 to 67sqm suites – invites to enjoy your relaxed stay. The architecture of the hotel is nothing special but fits in the neighborhood. If you make your way inside the reception and entrance hall shows a more interesting design. The hotel rooms are arranged in a clean style in grey tones.

On a big tv screen you can watch movies or the news to keep you up to date. One bottle of water per room is complementary as well as a Nespresso Machine offers you a fresh coffee or tea is also available. In case you have to work the hotel offers free Wifi.

The bathrooms are equipped with a shower or a bath tube and a separate toilet as well as with a hair dryer and shower amenities.

The suites additionally have bathrobe and slippers as well as a separate living and sleeping area. If you want to enjoy a spa you can have some treatments in the spa area or just book the Spa Suite which has an own sauna and the roof terrace as a relax zone.

My bed was big enough, the mattress very comfortable and more than one pillow per bed is available. I had a very good (and because of the early morning flight unfortunately short) sleep. For me a surprise because in the most hotels I have problems to sleep because of my back problems.

The prices starting around 120 EUR per room per night plus 5% city tax excluding the breakfast.

My conclusion: Steigenberger Am Kanzleramt offers a good value for money and is perfect for a city trip as well as a business trip. The location  is good  for a sightseeing trip especially if you arrive by plane. The rooms a big enough for two people and the beds very comfortable. Just after arriving somebody came and is asking if the guest needs something. The next time I will get the chance to stay in Berlin I would book this hotel and try the fitness center and the breakfast as well.
