Ibiza – A restaurant and its perfect sunset view

Another weekend, another trip to Ibiza. A bit sun, beach, la vida loca and at least enjoying one beautiful sunset with a sundowner in my hand was what I needed for the next 72hours I will spend on the Spanish island.

Our perfect and relaxed place for a sundowner with a stunning sunset view was found quickly. A big thanks to my lovely friend who is living on Ibiza now.

Just a couple of kilometers up north from the San Antonio – the enclave for the drunken British party people – the beautiful decorated Hostal La Torre is located in a privileged area in the countryside. The small hotel in the private and emblematic part of Ibiza island is very quite and has an complete unobstructed view over the Mediterranean sea from the terrace of the restaurant. No houses and other buildings to see in the left and the right of the restaurant.

The carefully selected decoration welcomes you already when entering the Hostal. The restaurant is designed  in the typical white Ibiza style. A table on the terrace is perfect to enjoy the view and a breeze in a hot summer night. For more space the restaurant also placed some more chairs and tables on the rocks close to the sea. Nevertheless to make a reservation seems to be necessary.

For the sundowner we could choose from a drink menu consisting of a good choice of Spanish wines (prices starting at 16EUR per bottle), Champagnes, a good variety of different types of Gin or Gin-based Cocktails as wells as non-alcoholic drinks. The food menu offers a good selection of typical Spanish tapas to share and a couple of fish, meat and light dishes.

The Souvenirs of the Middle East – our starter – was very delicious and composed of Hummus, babaganoush, yoghurt and cucumber raita, mini lamb kebabs, kalamata olives and pita bread – served freshly baked out of the oven -.
For the main my friend decided to give the sliced grilled Angus beef a try and I decided to have the burger. Our glass were never empty – always filled up with a chilled Spanish Sauvignon Blanc by the attentive waiters -. The wine was a perfect choice for this hot summer evening.

My conclusion: The Hostal La Torre and its restaurant is perfectly located to enjoy a beautiful sunset while having dinner or drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. The owner attach great importance to a lovely decoration with plenty of nice little details you ll realize bit by bit. The service was good and you never had to wait for staff. Comparing to the starter the arrangement of main dish could have been more inventive. Nevertheless we were satisfied and will come back the next time I travel to Ibiza.
