Vienna Airport – An Austrian Airlines Business Class lounge review

A couple of times a year I have to spend some hours in Vienna. Mostly the time is not enough for taking the public transport and exploring the beautiful city center. As a Lufthansa Frequent Traveler the Austrian Airlines Business lounge could be a place where to spend the time at the airport in a more relaxed surrounding than the hustle and bustle of departure area.

This lounge is located in the Schengen area in Terminal 3 – just a short walk  away from the security check, duty-free and passport control to Non-Schengen area. The lounge offers different zones, decorated in the Austrian colors light blue and red.

There is a regular seating area as well as relaxing chairs in front of tv screens or with a view over the airside of the airport. A business corner equipped with PCs and outlets makes it possible to work and a separate silent lounge to get energy by having a nap. For those who already had a long day and need to get refreshed showers also are available.

To keep yourself up to date Austrian and international newspaper are offered as well as some different magazines in paper and online version via the free WIFI connection. The area with the lounge chairs offers the news in tv.

The lounge has a very well equipped area offering hot drinks, international as well as Austrian soft drinks, local white and red wine and a choice of international spirits. The breakfast consisting of bread, butter, marmalade, cornflakes and muesli is quite basic. At 11 am the lunch starts and two different soups, one hot meal as well as two different salads as a starter were served. To satisfy the sweet tooth cake is served in the afternoon time. The hot meals always tastes good in my opinion.

My Conclusion: Mostly the lounge is not crowded by other passengers which makes it a very good place for spending the waiting time relaxing, reading or working. The offered selection of hot, cold and alcoholic drinks is big enough to find something for every taste. If you are coming hungry you won’t starve but the choice of food could be bigger.
